On Thursday 26th March, VSC held a protest opposite the US Embassy at the Palestine encampment on the day of a crucial hearing in Donald Trump’s show trial of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
We were delighted to be joined by representatives of the Palestine, anti-war, peace and Latin America solidarity movements uniting against Trump’s war drive and standing in solidarity with countries in his crosshairs.

It was an important first step. But it’s only the beginning.
What we’re up against
On 3 January, US forces attacked Caracas, killed over 100 people – including civilians – and kidnapped President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. Since then, the US has hijacked Venezuelan oil shipments, imposed a naval blockade, and now refuses to release Venezuelan funds to pay for Maduro’s legal representation.
This is a sham trial designed to legitimise an act of war.
Building a campaign for sovereignty and international law

The campaign to free President Maduro and defend international law will be a long struggle against a vicious attack from Donald Trump on the sovereignty of Venezuela and the principles of the UN Charter.
Anyone who supports peace, the rule of law, and the right of nations to be free from invasion and abduction has a place in this fight.
What’s next
We will be organising further actions in the weeks and months ahead to keep up pressure as the trial proceeds, broadening the campaign and incorporating legal experts to speak out for international law. Look out for future updates.
