On 7th February, campaigners, MPs, trade unionists and academics gathered from across Britain and around the world to discuss Trump’s illegal offensive against Latin America and organise to resist war, sanctions and other acts of US aggression.
Solidarity with Venezuela against Trump’s attacks on January 3rd, the ongoing threats against the country and the illegal kidnapping of President Maduro was a central theme of speeches from the plenary including from MPs Jeremy Corbyn, Richard Burgon and Chris Hazzard as well as campaigners Kate Hudson, Jess Barnard and others.
A key highlight of the event was a video address from Nicolás Maduro Guerra, the son of Venezuela’s kidnapped president, who thanked campaigners in Britain for their work in opposing Trump’s attacks.

VSC also held three packed out sessions: with voices from Latin America speaking out against Trump’s war on Venezuela, plus a session on the media war against Venezuela and a rally bringing together leading campaigners from the anti-war movement.
